Thanksgiving day


Thanksgiving day is celebrated because in 1620 Squanto a native made friend of the colonizers and Squanto teached how to cultive corn and other things to the colonizers. The colonizers made friends with others natives with the helped of Squanto. So in 1621 Brandfor said the idea of thanksgiving.
In 1623 this party was not celebrated very much. In 1789 George Washington had a agree with the congress to celebrated the Thanksgiving day. So the 26 of November of 1789 is a nacional party of United Staes of America
There are Thanksgiving parades in many other cities, including:

Chicago, Illinois (McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade)
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, claims to be the oldest parade, launched in 1920.
Plymouth, Massachusetts, held the Saturday before Thanksgiving

Funny School

We select that name because our school will be very funny and children will study in a nice way, at the same time children will learn many values.

We select Blue and Black because: Blue is a color that give fun and Black because in the World not all is fun and give balance and with that we are going to have fun and study at the same time.

Juan Santamaria’s festival date and place
Juan Santamaria’s Festival is celebrated the Eleventh of April in the streets of Alajuela, Costa Rica because in Alajuela Juan Santamaria killed William Walker.

Causes of the Festival
The purpose of this festival is to remember Juan Santamaria’s bravery in the independence of Costa Rica (1856) because Juan Santamaria in the independence of Costa Rica he burned where was William Walker to killed. William Walker was the man that wanted to took power of Costa Rica

Typical Costumes
The typical costumes of the girls are: A white t-shirt,a skirt with the colors of the flag of Costa Rica (green, red and blue) and a red bow.
The typical costumes of the boys are: Blue jeans, white shirt, white hat and red neckerchief

How it’s celebrated
The people decorate the streets of Alajuela- Costa Rica.
The inhabitants of the city gather around the statue of Juan Santamaria.
The people made in the streets dancing “punto guanacasteco” and the “folclor”
The people said “bombas” that are like jokes

Typical dances
The typical dance is the “Folclor” and “punto guanacasteco”

Typical dishes
The typical dishes are: “The casado”, “Gallo pinto”, “Sopa de arepas”, “Torrejas”, “Tapado de camaron”, “Tamal casero”, “Tamal navideño”, “Pan de queso” “olla de carne” “Choricitos de platano verde” and “Arroz con pollo”

Family
Charles had seven brothers, he was the second. His father was John Dickens and his mother was Elizabeth Dickens. His father was a clerk in the navy pay office, but in 1824 his father was sent to Marshalea prision for debtors.

Personal Information
Charles was born in February 7 of 1812in Portsmouth.
In 1816 Charles studied in Chatham, where Charles spent two years.
In Marshalea he had to lived in a small room, there he worked in a newspaper called “Doctor Common’s”, here he discovered that he love to write.
Charles in 1836 he got married with Catherine Thompson. With Catherine he had 10 sons.
He died in June 9 of 1870
